If you haven’t yet tried out the multiplayer racing missions in Flight Simulator X: Acceleration you’re missing out. You’d better get up to speed quickly (pun intended), because our designers Paul Lange and Brandon Seltz have created three more multiplayer races for you to try.
The Reno National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada, have been run since 1964; today, races at Reno Stead Airport feature five days of pylon-style racing by six classes of aircraft. Each class of racing aircraft at Reno has its own pylon course. While Acceleration includes missions only on the Unlimited course, it includes the pylons for all of the different courses. Our Lead Game Designer Paul Lange wanted to give you a taste of the other courses at Reno, so he created two new multiplayer racing missions for you: a T-6 Class race and a Sport Class race. Both of these use different courses than the Unlimited Class races.
If you prefer a quieter kind of racing, Mission Designer Brandon Seltz created a new multiplayer sailplane race for you that requires you and your opponents to weave your way through a challenging alpine hoop course in Austria. Although you’re not flying as fast as the aircraft at Reno, glider racing presents its own unique challenges. First and foremost, you have no engine!
The new missions are available (for free!) on the Downloads page.
Be sure to download the manual too, which provides some background on the courses, suggests appropriate add-on aircraft, and explains how to fly these missions alone against the clock for practice.
